비즈니스 영어 표현 (6) 제압하기편 Power Move

팀원이 내 말을 무시하거나 의논하지 않고 혹은 의논한 것과 반대로 단독행동할 때

1. Keep the stakeholders in the loop 이해당사자들을 대화에 포함시키기

2. 상대가 한 행동 설명 (어떻게 의논한 것과 다른지)

3. 추궁x 질문으로 대화의 기회 남겨두기

4. 그 사람의 행동의 결과를 설명하기

5. 문제를 일으킨 장본인이 해결할 수 있도록 기회 주면서 조력자(peer)/상급자로서 지위 보여주기

참고로 이 템플렛은 상대가 여러번 잘못된 단독행동으로 팀에 심각한 피해를 입혔을 때 쓴 이메일입니다. 잘못 사용하면 적대감만 심어줄 수 있으니 남용하지 않기로 해요.

1. 이해당사자들을 대화에 포함시키기

Dear John (보통 Hi, hello를 쓰는 직장에서 Dear 을 쓴 것만으로도 빡침이 느껴짐...)
I am adding [CC에 포함한 사람들] for information.
I am adding ... as they were not part of the discussion.
I am adding ... to keep them in the loop.

함께 결정하고 동의한 사안 간략하게 설명
As we discussed earlier, we were going to ...
In the meeting on [date], we agreed to ...
We concluded we would like to … to save resources …

2. 상대가 한 행동 설명 (어떻게 의논한 것과 다른지)

However, I noticed you did ...
However, I just heard from the client that ...
I am a bit confused because I noticed you went ahead with A, instead of B that we agreed on earlier.

3. 질문으로 대화의 기회 남겨두기, 4. 그 사람의 행동의 결과를 설명하기

(근데 내 기준 이 부분이 제일 무서움 ㄷㄷ)
Can you please explain why you…(did otherwise as we discussed)?
What are justifications for (decision)?
Has another discussion happened on this topic without my knowledge?

(팀원의 단독행동으로 예산에 없는 비용이 생김. 혹시라도 내가 모르는 추가된 예산이 있는지 확인하는 질문)
If not(앞에서 한 질문의 대답이 아니오라면), how will we cover the additional cost?
Most importantly, did we reach agreement on who will cover this cost?

오해일 수 있으니 팀원의 행동 결과를 말하되 질문하는게 좋은듯
From the last discussion, we decided to move away from ... because it would've cost too much time and resources. Have there been changes I'm not aware of that make...a suitable/attractive/logical choice?

친구는 빡쳐서 한번 더 강조함
I did not agree to [팀원의 행동]
I thought we aligned ...
Yet you ... I am confused about your decision.

5. 문제를 일으킨 장본인이 해결할 수 있도록 기회 주면서 조력자(peer)/상급자로서 지위 보여주기

마지막 파워무브: 상대에게 미팅을 셋업하라고 하면서 상대가 풀어야 할 문제임을 한번 더 강조하고 스스로 책임지게 하기.
Could you set up a call with me, Thomas, and Andreas to resolve this issue asap?
